Hello.
I was wondering if any of you know how to use the flash player on youtube. It used to play automatically for me but I think I accidently muted it because now, no matter which page I try and visit, nothing ever plays for me. It's funny cause it plays fine on other pages I visit like myspace or things like that but when I search for something to listen to over youtube, it doesn't play. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it, I would be eternally grateful! Thanks so much.

Hmmm! Michelle, it sounds like you've accidentally gone in to the ERC box and typed an incorrect character so the SRC box isn't correct and the audio won't play anymore. This will be the case with any video you play connected with YouTube, you won't get any audio. Now the way to resolve this is stupidly simple. Click on a video you want to watch, press F till you find the URL, SRC and address boxes (don't worry about the read-only factor here) press Enter, Ctrl A then backspace. This will take you back to the previous page you were on before, but next time you play a video, you should get the audio to go with it. Having said that though, I should repeat the above and below actions for all three boxes. press Enter, forms mode on, Ctrl A Backspace to take you out of Forms mode again. A similar thing happened with me. I wondered what the hell was going on when it happened, I thought there was something spectacularly badly wrong with my Adobe Flash player as the audio just wouldn't play no matter what I did. It also depends which Windows platform you're using. If you're using Vista, go in to your system tray, cursor up two or three times till you get to Volume, enter/click on that button, click on Mixer button, then scroll/tab through the various volume controls till you find the one for Youtube. Make sure all volume controls're set to 100 percent (that is if you have an external volume button/dial on your computer.

I hope this post will be ofg some assistance and you get your YOuTube audio back.

Personally when i want to search for videos i use google video at http://video.google.com.
I think they work together with youtube because most of the results come from youtube and under of each video there is a link saying watch video here to watch it without going to a different page. Then when you finish with the video you go down and find the next one. I personally find it easier than going to the youtube website.

No no Nicos. Michelle has a problem with her audio here, she probably won't be able to play anything from YouTube unless she follows the instructions in my previous post on this topic. It isn't YouTube that's playing up, it's this SRC box where an incorrect character's cropped up, disablig YouTube's audio playback. And anyway, I find YouTube very easy and VI friendly to use apart from the registration where they don't provide an audio security box so you can listen to the characters before keying them in. You use whichever site suits you Michelle.

I am actually interested in using youtube because it is so easy to navigate around the page. The only thing is I did try what you suggested and the sound is still not working for me. I hit enter, controll A, then the backspace key for all 3 edit fields but it still didn't work. Your explanation for vista sounds a lot easier but I'm still using XP. Am I doing it all wrong? I did try hitting enter, pressing controll A, hitting the pc cursor to turn forms mode off, then down arrowing to the other 2 src fields and doing the same thing then hitting the backspace key to go back then clicking on a song/video but that didn't work either. Any further help on this will be much appreciated. Thank you verry much.

I don't know if it will help but if you delete your temporary internet files and coockies i am wondering if it could work. If the problem is only with youtube maybe youtube saved a coockie on your computer to be able to remember your settings.

Ah yeah, Youtube does save a file I think on your computer to remember your settings. Try deleting all temporary files, cookies, history Etc, then try playing the videos again.

I did this once but had to have sighted assistants from my cousin to fix it.

Sadly, I already deleted my history browser and cookies and it still didn't work. I even downloaded the uninstaller program for the flash player and reinstalled it again but it still doesn't work. I think I will try the google video thing and see if I can watch things from there. I just like to listen to the live performances of artists and stuff but hopefully, I can get the google video thing working better than youtube. Thanks all for your help.
